Quick Answer:The Inspection Bungalow trailer reveals Zee5’s bold experiment with a Malayalam horror-comedy that balances chills and laughter. Starring Shabareesh Varma and directed by Saiju SS, the series premieres on November 14—delivering suspense, humor, and emotion in equal measure.
What Is ‘Inspection Bungalow’ About?
Set in the fictional village of Aravangad, Inspection Bungalow follows Sub-Inspector Vishnu (played by Shabareesh Varma), who’s assigned to move his police station into a long-abandoned government property known locally as the Inspection Bungalow.
What starts as a simple relocation soon turns mysterious when strange occurrences—ghost sightings, unexplained deaths, and hidden secrets—emerge. As fear grips the town, Vishnu joins hands with Mythili, a paranormal researcher, to uncover the truth lurking within the haunted premises.
“Inspection Bungalow isn’t just about fear; it’s about finding laughter and meaning within it,” says director Saiju SS, describing the show as Kerala’s first full-fledged horror-comedy web series.
A First-of-Its-Kind Malayalam Horror-Comedy
Malayalam cinema and streaming platforms have often explored realistic thrillers or dark dramas—but horror-comedy remains an untapped genre. With Inspection Bungalow, Zee5 dives into this exciting hybrid, mixing:
Horror & suspense → Ghostly settings, eerie visuals, and mysterious deaths
Comedy & irony → Situational humor and witty dialogues that lighten the dread
Emotional undertones → Exploring how laughter helps us confront our fears
This combination positions Inspection Bungalow as a genre trendsetter for Malayalam OTT content—where “fear meets fun” in a refreshing new format.
